Abia Warriors on Wednesday avenged their first-leg loss to Enyimba with a 2-1 victory in Okigwe in the MatchDay 21 of the 2022 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

The hosts went in front through Yakub Hammed who rifled home a powerful left-footed drive from 25 yards to set the local derby on fire in the 30th minute.

7 minutes later, the Warriors doubled their lead as Valentine Odoh spurned an offside trap to expertly finish off a brilliant pass from the middle as they led by 2-0.

But just before the halftime whistle, Pascal Eze halved the deficit for Enyimba after Warriors defence failed to deal with Gabriel Orok’s corner kick to end the first half 2-1.

The second half of the keenly contested week 21 fixture failed to produce more goals as the Imama Amapakabo tutored lads ran away with the maximum points.

In the other games played, Kano Pillars playing in Katsina failed to defeat Akwa United as the game ended 0-0 while Dakkada FC piped Kwara United 2-0 in Uyo to avenge their 3-0 loss in the first stanza.

Enugu Rangers have now done the double over Katsina United with a slim 1-0 victory just as Shooting Stars played out a 0-0 draw with Gombe United, the same way it ended in the first round.

Elsewhere, MFM failed to defeat Remo Stars this season as the second round tie between them in Ikenne ended 1-0 while Nasarawa United compounded Heartland’s relegation worries with a 2-0 victory in Jos.
