The son of a ward head in one of the settlements in Kubwa town in the FCT had fled his community after being caught stealing transformer’s cables in the area.
The incident took place around 3 am on Tuesday during a rainfall.
Residents, who spoke to City & Crime on Wednesday, said the suspect identified as Titus Bala took advantage of the rainfall to commit the crime.
A resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the suspect had succeeded in cutting the cable from the transformer and was in the process of cutting some other cables when nearby residents raised the alarm.
