Waldrum seeks Falcons’ balance ahead of Botswana clash

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has said he will try to find the balance needed for the team to achieve its goals in the ongoing Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Morocco.

He further said his side will build on their confidence gotten from the 2-0 victory against tournament debutants Botswana as they bid to win the competition for the 10th time.

“We want to build on the confidence that we got from winning our second game. When you go into the third group game, as the coaching staff, we start looking at who we want to play, who should rest.”

“Some of our players have played 90 minutes twice already and it is a long tournament. If you are fortunate enough to make it through six games, we have to be mindful so these are some of the challenges that we have. So we have to try and find that balance,” he said during a press conference.

In the same vein, Atletico Madrid forward, Rasheedat Ajibade said the team will take each game as it comes as they win the tournament.

She opened her goalscoring account at the tournament with a 92nd minute fine finish against rivals South Africa in the first game on Monday.

“We have to take one game at a time and make sure that the goal is the trophy, so we shall play to achieve that.

“Playing for Nigeria is an absolute honour. I will never take it for granted. There are millions of Nigerian players out there that could be here. I feel that I am doing great in my field and that is why I have the opportunity to be here. I put in my best, on and off the pitch,” she said.

This fixture will be played at the same time as South Africa vs Botswana with two places in the quarterfinals up for grabs for Nigeria, Botswana and Burundi.
