The Bala-Waja, Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma Muhammad has conferred a traditional title of Jakadiyar Waja on Finney David, the first woman to hold the title in the chiefdom.
The palace was agog with friend, well wishers and other traditional title holders to witness the epoch event.
Mrs Finney, who is the National President of Tangale-Waja Women Development Association, serves as board member of the National Gallery of Arts under the Ministry of Information and the Governing Board of the Federal Collage of Animal Health and Production Technology Ibadan, Oyo State.
Born on September 18 in the 1970s, she holds a diploma in Business Administration from the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi. She later proceeded to the University of Jos, where she read Theatre Arts.
Decorated with the traditional regalia, guided by palace guard, at a colourful ceremony on Saturday, she rode a well decorated horse through the major streets of Talasse, headquarters of the Waja chiefdom to cheers from her people.
Speaking shortly after her turbaning, the Bala-Waja, Danjuma Muhammad, said Finney David was chosen as the new Jakadiyar Waja as a result of her meaningful contribution to the development of the chiefdom and the state as a whole.
He, therefore, urged her to use her wealth of experience to bring development to Balanga Local Government Area, Tangale-Waja and the state.
In her acceptance speech, Ms Finney thanked the Bala-Waja for choosing and finding her worthy among the women of the chiefdom.
Finney described her appointment into the chiefdom as a great honour not only to her, “but the entire womenfolk from the Tangale-Waja chiefdom.
She promised not to betray the trust bestowed on her and assured the Bala-Waja and her people that she would not relent to use her position to bring more development to the chiefdom and the state.
