Waiting for 2011 Kogi Central senate poll

Already politicians, especially office seekers, have started strategizing for alignment and re-alignment in their various constituencies and beyond their frontiers with a view to repositioning themselves for the battle ahead.
The political tempo in Kogi Central is gradually building up with intrigues and political maneuvering that have taken the centre stage within the existing factions in the ruling party, PDP.
Although ambition is not a crime, but while some are pursuing their ambition with inordinate drive, others are not desperate for power. At every stage, some citizens had made very great contributions in the past either by building, unifying, salvaging or rather motivating others in promoting good values.  On this note, history has depicted some of the aforementioned aspirants as catalysts who, despite their doggedness in what they believe in, have experienced many challenges and even disappointments in trying to bring people together and work for the common good and progress of their fatherland.
The pressure on Senator Mohammed Salami Ohiare, who has represented the senatorial district in 2003 political dispensation by people that matter in Kogi Central senatorial district to renew his senatorial mandate has signified that he is a politician to watch. His unostentatious philanthropy and silent commitment to the welfare of ordinary people may have been part of the reasons the people cannot help liking him and encouraging him to come and represent them again at the Senate.
It could be recalled that in 2003 political dispensation, Mohammed Ohiare also offered himself to serve his people in the senate to represent Kogi Central senatorial district.  In his characteristic way, he ran a well coordinated and intensive campaign with such fierce determination that even from the beginning, victory seemed assured.
While this gentleman was in the Senate, his revolutionary impacts cut across constituency, class and creed.  There is no way Ohiare’s sojourn at the senate chamber will be chronicled and the issue of power-shift or power rotation casting will not feature.  To this end, he sponsored various Bills in the floor of the Upper House that if all were then implemented to the letter, could have changed lots in his constituency.
Although, his personal best as a political actor is his election in the senate, where he emerged as the President of Pan-African Parliament in West African sub-region, Senator Ohiare’s enduring politics remains the politics he has produced at the grassroots and his contribution to the enrichment of national political discourse and practice at the Upper House, most especially during the third-term saga.
During this period, Senator Ohiare giant stride at the National Assembly ranked him as one of the best performed legislators whose landmark remains indelible.  He has successfully chaired sensitive senate committees which include FCT, Navy, Agriculture and Water Resources, Special Duties and Emergency Relief and member of various sub-committees.
From his first shot to political limelight as a distinguished senator, his profile has been growing steadily.  His never-say-die-spirit has continued to lead him from one triumph to another.
