The arraignment of Hamisu Bala, also known as Wadume and 10 others before a Federal High Court in Abuja was stalled yesterday over the absence of other defendants, mainly military personnel.

Justice Binta Nyako, before adjourning the case to March 30, ordered the Chief of Defence Staff to produce the personnel allegedly involved in the trial.

The defendants absent from the court were members of the armed forces listed as second to 11th defendant.

Among the 20 defendants included Capt. Ahmed Tijani Balarabe, Staff Sgt. David Isaiah, Sgt Ibrahim Mohammed, Cpl Bartholomew Obanye and Private Mohammed Nura, among others.

The Inspector-General of Police charged the defendants on 16-count charges bordering on terrorism, murder, kidnapping and illegal arms running.

Wadume was alleged to be involved in kidnapping activities in Taraba State. He escaped arrest on August 6, 2019, but was rearrested in Kano on August 19, 2019.

He later narrated how soldiers set him free and allegedly killed the anti-crime police officers who were conveying him from Ibi to Jalingo on August 6, 2019.
