Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old vulcanizer, Dele Ope, for allegedly stealing panties belonging to his female client.

Ope was arrested following a report by a woman (name withheld) who reported at the Warewa police division in Ifo Local Government, Ogun State.

A statement yesterday by the Command’s police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the complainant reported that she had sought the services of the vulcanizer to help fix her car’s tyre.

According to her, after the vulcanizer fixed the tyre and left, she discovered that her panties which she had spread on a rope within the compound were missing.

“Since the vulcanizer was the only person who came to the compound, she went round in search of him but he was nowhere to be found,” Oyeyemi said in the statement.

The spokesman said the Divisional Police Officer, Warewa division, Superintendent Folake Afeniforo,

working on the report, detailed detectives who traced and arrested the suspect.

“His house was quickly searched and the woman’s panties was recovered therein. On interrogation, the suspect confessed that he stole the pant with the intention of taking it to a herbalist for money making ritual,” Oyeyemi said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered that the suspect be charged to court.
