Voting begins in Ogun, as retired Major demands unrestricted usage of PVCs

Voting commenced in many polling units in Ogun state as early as 8am on Saturday morning.

When our correspondent visited Polling Units 001 and 005 at Ogere, Ikenne Local Government Area, electorates were in high spirit as they trooped out to exercise their civic responsibility.

By 8:30 am when our correspondent visited Iperu-Remo, voting had started with large turnout of the electorate.

Speaking with our reporter, a retired senior military officer, Major Adeyemi Ladejobi on Saturday asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow usage of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) for voting at anywhere in Nigeria.

This, according to him, would curb “unnecessary travelling to cast ballots” during election.

“All this travelling in the name of voting is a deceit”, Ladejobi said.

In Abeokuta, election materials are yet to arrive some polling units at Ori Omi, Randa axis as INEC officials have not arrived.
