Voter apathy marred the Okigwe (Imo North) senatorial and House of Representatives election in Imo State.
Our correspondent reports that in some of the polling units visited at Oweere ward 1 and 2, Amaraku ward 1 and 2 in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, only a few people turned out to vote. People stayed back at their homes, just as many others went to the markets and farms
The same situation was observed in other local government areas. Meanwhile, the exercise was generally peaceful. Speaking with newsmen, the House of Representative member for Okigwe/Onuimo/Isiala Mbano constituency, Obinna Onwubuariri, commended security agencies for a peaceful election.
