There is voter apathy in the ongoing local government election in Kaduna State.
The state’s Independent Electoral Commission kicked-off the elections in 19 LGAs on Saturday morning.

Residents of Kaduna metropolis were seen grumbling over the late arrival of electoral materials.
Daily Trust observed that there was poor turnout at polling units at Tudun Wada, Kawo, Rafin Guza and other communities within the metropolis.
Our correspondents, who went round, observed that materials were yet to arrive polling units at Maiduguri road and Unguwan sarki both in Kaduna north LGA as of 10am.
Those who later voted, however, told our correspondent that there were no issues with the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
Our reporter gathered that the situation is similar in the southern part of Kaduna State where there is poor turnout.
Daily Trust reports that the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) on Friday suspended elections in Birnin Gwari, Kajuru, Chikun and Zangon Kataf LGAs following security concerns.
The elections in the four LGAs have been rescheduled to September 25, 2021.
