Vice President Kashim Shettima, yesterday, urged the electorate in Imo State to vote Governor Hope Uzodinma for a second term, saying he is on the verge of bringing Ndigbo into the mainstream politics of Nigeria.
He made the statement during the party’s flag off campaign rally for the November 11 governorship election at Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri, Imo State.
Shettima said Ndigbo cannot afford to play in the periphery of Nigerian politics.
“You may not appreciate him, but in the fullest of time, you will come to realise how important he is in the politics of Ndigbo. Ndigbo were described as economical enterprising and educationally ambitious but Ndigbo can not afford to play in the periphery of the Nigerian politics,” he said.

Shettima, who said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu holds the people of Imo State and Ndigbo in general in high esteem, urged the Imo electorate to re-elect Uzodinma for the purpose of consolidation and continuity.
“The good people of Imo, I have seen your faces, I have seen the faces of Hope, I have seen the faces of resilience and determination, but mind you, Rome was not destroyed by outside invaders, Rome was destroyed by complicity of the Romans.
“We cannot afford to be complacent on the 11th of next month, we should all come out in full force and reelect our governor for another term of four years,” he added.
The APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje handed over the party’s flag to Governor Uzodimma.
The rally was attended by 16 governors who are members of the APC, former governors, ministers, national and state assembly members among others.
