The newly appointed Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace, has vowed that under his watch, the agency will surpass the standards of other international agencies.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja when he took over office, he said he had come in to make a difference and ensure that the agency competes with Voice of America (VOA), British Broadcasting Service (BBC), and others around the world.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave him a specific responsibility to ensure that the agency competes and surpass the standards of other international radio station.
Ndace said the Nigerian media had the responsibility to tell the Nigerian story and not let anyone else do it because Nigeria was not the worst country in the world, hence “we are not where we should be but the cup is half full not half empty.”
