The Voice of America (VOA) says it is setting up a regional reporting centre in Gombe state to coordinate the station’s activities in the North East sub-region of the country.
The VOA’s Head of Hausa Service, Aliyu Mustapha Sokoto, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, to intimate him of the plan by the US international broadcaster to establish its regional office in the state.
He said when established, the centre would serve as the northeast hub for VOA’s programmes which includes; integrated newscasts, magazine shows, diverse stringer reports, exclusive interviews, call-in shows and panel discussions among others.
Mustapha added that he was in Gombe to inspect a suitable office accommodation to house the complex that will serve as the regional reporting centre.
He commended Governor Yahaya for his disposition and show of interest towards the establishment of the international radio station’s office in the state.
Governor Yahaya thanked the VOA Hausa Service for choosing Gombe to serve as their regional hub, assuring them of his administration cooperation to ensure its realization and success.
He said the state is willing to partner with the VOA and any other media outfit in the quest to inform, educate and enlighten the public with a view to entrenching good governance through mass media.
