VIO boss charges promoted officers on evolution

The head of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), whose operatives are popularly known as Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO), Dr Bello Abdulateef, has urged newly promoted officers of the agency to brace up to meet up with the accredited international standard in traffic management to ease transportation in the territory.

Speaking at the rank decoration ceremony of the newly promoted senior officers of the organisation, Dr Abdulateef charged them to double their efforts and join the ongoing evolution in road traffic management in the FCT.

He said the DRTS was an evolving agency with the mantra of making traffic management easy in the nation’s capital, adding that the more senior officers being promoted to the management team, the better for the organisation

He further said, “The more men we have in the management team, the more we have credible decisions and evolution of the management. We need the cooperation, synergy and the resourcefulness of all staff to move DRTS forward. We all know that change is difficult but inevitable, and it’s not been an easy challenge for the leadership of this agency.

“At times, if you are on the other side of change, you feel it is directed at hurting you, but honestly, most of the changes are not designed to hurt anybody but to move DRTS to a new pedestal. And this is because if we don’t move, helplessness will move us. So, it is always better to confront our challenges. If we dodge, it will overwhelm us.”

Earlier, the DRTS Director of Finance, Mrs Eze Ego, urged the promoted officers to justify their promotion by rededicating themselves to hard work, remain focused and disciplined.
