Residents of Takandan Giwa village yesterday blocked the Bauchi-Jos Road to protest incessant kidnapping in the area.
The protesters also burnt tyres on the highway, a situation that caused heavy traffic gridlock and kept motorists and other road users stranded for over two hours.

Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that unknown gunmen stormed the village in a vehicle and kidnapped a resident of the area and took him away to unknown destination.
A source from the village Salihu Musa said that residents of the area decided to protest because security agents have abandoned the people at the mercy of the kidnappers who often attack the village and take victims away for ransom.
A commercial driver who was caught up by the protest, Murtala Muhammed, told Daily Trust on Sunday that the villagers blocked the highway for over two hours.
He added that the intervention of security operatives led to opening of the road after two hours on the gridlock.
