Vigilantes nab hoodlums attempting to snatch phone

Vigilantes have apprehended two suspected hoodlums while attempting to attack and dispossess a resident of his phone at Unguwar Dodo in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

City & Crime had reported Unguwar Dodo of becoming notorious a some hoodlums on Tuesday night allegedly attacked some worshipers returning from church and dispossessed them of their phones and undisclosed amounts of money.

A member of the vigilante in the area, Musa Ibrahim, confirmed the arrest of two hoodlums to our reporter through phone on Thursday.

He said the incident happened around 10:35pm around Unguwar Dodo LEA primary school, when the hoodlums accosted the victim and threatened to stab him when the vigilante on patrol swooped on them.

“In fact, our quick intervention saved the man when the boys pulled out a knife and asked him to hand over his phone to them. We pursued and arrested two of them,” he said.

He said the two suspects have been handed over to security operatives, even as he said one of the vigilantes sustained injury when one of the hoodlums stab him in the hand in an attempt to escape.

“Unfortunately, one of our members sustained injury when one of the hoodlums stabbed him with a knife on the hand in an attempt to escape. He was taken to the hospital and treated that night,” he added.

The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Adeh Josephine, is yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing the report.
