Vigilantes arrest herder, driver with 2 rustled cows

Vigilantes have arrested a pickup driver and a herder over being in possession of two allegedly rustled cows at the SCC Village Market in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.

A community leader who confirmed the arrest to our reporter through telephone on Wednesday, said the herder and the driver were arrested when they brought the cows to the market around 10am to sell.

He alleged that the cows, which belonged to one Alhaji Sarajo, were stolen by the herder in Kurmin-Kare village on Saturday, adding that the suspects were handed over to soldiers.

He further said that two other suspects were arrested by vigilantes two weeks ago for attempting to sell three cows at the Katari market.

He said the suspects, who confessed to be responsible for rustling of cows in Maraban Isa village under Kagarko LGA, were also handed over to soldiers.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to comment on the arrest.
