Vigilantes apprehend man over phone theft in Kano

Vigilantes in the Dangoro area in Kumbotso LGA of Kano State have arrested a man over alleged trespass and theft of mobile phones.

The vigilante commandant of the area, Yusuf Sulaiman Yusuf, told newsmen that the man confessed that he was going from house to house to steal mobile phones which he usually put in a sack.

He disclosed that several phones recovered from the suspect had been returned to their owners.

City & Crime reports that phone snatchers have been disturbing people in Kano metropolis through their activities which sometimes lead to injuries and death.

Earlier in the week, a Sharia court sentenced two phone snatchers to one year in prison each.
