An operative of the Neighborhood Watch, on Monday night, shot dead a popular restaurant owner, Mr Ugwu Ofor (aka Ofor Onye Ofe Olubu) at Ogrute Roundabout in the Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
A video circulating on social media showed a security vehicle belonging to the Neighborhood Watch engulfed in flames, reportedly set ablaze by enraged youths following Ofor’s brutal killing.
An eyewitness, speaking anonymously, said the security operatives had attempted to arrest someone at Ofor’s restaurant but faced resistance.
“This led to a confrontation between the restaurant owner and the security personnel, resulting in Ofor being shot in the back by one of them.

“Subsequently, the security personnel fled the scene, abandoning their vehicle, which was later set on fire by angry locals, he said.
He said Ofor was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital Ogrute, where he was pronounced dead early on Tuesday.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident and an investigation into the murder of Ofor was underway.
