Vigilante kills 2 in Edo

A trigger-happy vigilante member in Edo State whose name  is yet to be ascertained, Thursday, shot two persons dead.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at Ofehi Street, off College Road, Aduwawa, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Benin, the state, capital.

The vigilante reportedly went to his customer store who was busy attending to another client.

The vigilante was said to have told the woman that he was going home to get his gun without stating what he would use the gun for.

It was also learnt that when he came back, he opened fire on the woman and the customer who came to buy things, killing them on the spot.

The reason for the shooting could not be ascertained as the suspect was said to have escaped immediately after the shooting

When contacted, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Kotong Bello, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects had reported himself at the Aduwawa police station.

“The vigilante has reported himself to the police station. He was shooting his double-barrel up and in the process, a bullet hit a lady and a young man and they were rushed to the central hospital where they were confirmed dead,” he said.
