Vigilante group recovers N6m snatched from Chinese contractor

Daily Trust gathered that the robbery suspect is a driver with the Chinese company and has been handed over to the police for further investigation. Narrating the incident to newsmen over the weekend in Birnin Kebbi, the State Operation Manager, Mohammed Lawal, said the suspect was arrested around 1pm along Dakingari on Friday.
“The vigilante group arrested a member of an armed robbery gang that snatched money from a Chinese man with CGC Construction Company while on his way to pay staff salaries at a construction site in Dakingari. They are two in number and we are able to arrested one of them after splitting the N12m snatched from the Chinese. The suspect who was arrested is a driver in the company and has been handed over to the police for further investigation,” he said.
Lawal said the incident happened because of the absence of a bank in the area, adding that if not for God’s intervention, the suspects were about to kill the Chinese man before they later dropped him from the car. It was gathered that the company staff were ambushed on their way after withdrawing money from a bank in Birnin Kebbi to pay their workers salaries at a project site in Dakingari.
