Some students in Osun State under the auspices of the National Association of Osun State Students on Tuesday took the protest to the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over the shooting by its personnel attached to the Minister of Interior Mr Rauf Aregbesola.
NSCDC Commandant in the State, Emmanuel Ocheja who spoke through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Atanda Olabisi, said “unknown hoodlums attacked Aregbesola’s convoy in Osogbo, the State Capital and that the security details of the Minister dispersed the hoodlums”.

But the leader of the students, Moshood Yusuf said the shooting by NSCDC men attached to Aregbesola was needless and appealed to NSCDC management to call its men to order.
During the protest, some of the NSCDC personnel while preventing the students from gaining access to the NSCDC headquarters harassed the journalists that were covering the protest.
The NSCDC men beat the correspondent of The Nation newspaper, Mr Toba Adedeji and also threatened to kill other journalists.
