VIDEO: Naira Marley spotted for first time in public after arrest

Born Azeez Fashola but fondly known as Naira Marley has been spotted in public since his arrest as he was fingered as a culprit in the death of one of his signees, Mohbad.

The singer was picked up by law enforcement agents in October with an associate of his, Sam Larry over the controversial death of Mohbad which sparked controversies nationwide.

However, the duo were released on bail in November after spending over five weeks in detention.

Meanwhile, in a now-viral video, the Puta singer was spotted in the company of his associate, Sam Larry and one of his signees, Zinoleesky at an orphanage in Lagos. Moreso, in another video, the trio were seen giving out food items to the needy.

The video has sparked several mixed reactions on social media, with some happy that they had regained their freedom and others expressing their displeasure at the Mohbad case remaining inconclusive.

It should be recalled that Naira Marley is still also on trial for cyber fraud whereby he was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2019.

The singer was arraigned in May 2019, but he pleaded not guilty. The court had granted him bail of N2 million, with two sureties in like sum.

The trial resumed in October when a magistrate court sitting in Yaba held that Naira Marley be remanded in police custody for 21 days in relation to Mohbad’s death.

On November 13, the trial was stalled at the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos following the absence of the judge. The hearing has now been adjourned to November 30, 2023.
