2023: Igbos would have buried their heads in shame if not for Peter Obi

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh, says but for Peter Obi, presidential ambition of Labour Party (LP), Igbos would have buried their heads in shame in the 2023 elections.

He said this during an interactive session at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Awka, Anambra capital, on Tuesday evening.

The Senator, who is currently a member of LP, said God took him to his new party to reconcile with Obi.

Obi had served as Anambra governor under APGA, while Umeh was chairman of the party at the time.

But the duo fell out shortly before Obi dumped APGA for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking at the NUJ secretariat, Umeh said though he lost the APGA ticket as a result of conspiracy, it was God’s design for him to reunite with Obi.

“During the last senatorial primary in Anambra Central District which I contested under APGA, it was glaring that some people within the party perfectly wheeled conspiracy to pull me down and that was why I decided to leave APGA”, he said.

Umeh said he joined LP on the advice of its Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, adding that he is happy because God has brought them together again.

The former APGA national chairman who went memory lane to chronicle how Obi and himself steered the ship of his former party to victory, added that same fate was about to repeat itself in LP next year.

“Nigerians from all shades of opinion want Peter Obi as president in 2023 and what is happening is in LP is divine.
“What is driving him are statements he makes on the management of the resources of the country which truly represent his conduct on the ways public resources should be managed”, he said.

Umeh urged the people to ensure they obtain their permanent voters card (PVC) ahead of the elections to enable the country witness a progressive era.

He commended the leadership of the union in the state for providing a platform for people to communicate to the public.

He stressed that Obi and Labour Party backed by loud support of millions of Nigerians would address the bitter experience of the nation .

“If you look at the Presidential primaries of the APC and the PDP, the Igbo would have buried their heads in shame if not for Peter Obi and Labour Party.”

“Nigerians of all shades of opinion are rallying around Peter Obi. Nigerians must show commitment and love. What is happening is divine, Obi is a hot brand. We are urging Nigerians to rally round Peter Obi. Peter Obi stands for good of Nigeria and the citizens. That hope Nigerians need is Peter Obi, even in the midst of plenty he cannot waste the resources. Obi’s movement is a revolution that will take Nigeria far. He is a role model.” Umeh stated.

The state chairman of LP, Ugochukwu Emeh, said it was wrong for some people to say that the party does not have structures across the country.

“Labour is a political party registered by Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress which includes the NUJ, we have more than 50 million people who are members of these bodies. In addition to these groups, millions of Nigeria youths whose future have been messed up by bad leadership are the people driving the Peter Obi’s movement,” he said.
