Yigit said:  “For us, the business is not about having benefit; we are committed to how we can give back to the community, give back to the children and education is the future for our children and future for all of us, so we decided to give back to society in a right way, to build a hostel for the students of the University of Abuja.

“Apart from the hostel, we have done renovation of public schools, we also appreciate Nigerians especially the ordinary people during the festive periods like Christmas, Ramadan, Sallah. We distribute meat and other Ramadan packages, which is what we do on a yearly basis. Also, during Christmas, we take the packages to different communities.”

Represented by the registrar of the institution, Yahaya Muhammed, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’allah, said the regular students’ population of the school is about 25,000, adding that only about 6000 are presently being given accommodation by the institution.

He therefore called on other organisations and well-spirited individuals to take a cue from Vento Furniture and partner with the institution to provide more accommodation space for the students.

On his part, Muhammed Abubakar of Near Foundation said the project marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to support education and alleviate poverty in the country.
