He stated this at the 2013/2014 matriculation ceremony of the students held at the main campus of the university.
“I charge you to focus attention on areas of research that will enhance national growth and development so that our country can compete favourably with other nations in all spheres of life. Let me assure you that the PG school is undergoing transitional development, because our intention is to reconstruct it to be the best among its contemporaries,” he said.
While urging the new students to make efforts to complete their studies within the stipulated period, the vice chancellor charged them not to engage in examination malpractices or use of illicit drugs to pass.
Earlier, the dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Adebayo Joshua, said that more than 10,000 candidates applied for admission but only 7,629 students were admitted and duly registered for the 2013/2014 session.
Speaking, one of the matriculating students, Malam Sabo Ahmad described the event as a moment of joy, and advised his colleagues to study hard for a successful outcome.
