Following the abduction of a 400-level student of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nathaniel Olayinka, students in the state have given the federal and state governments 72 hours to secure his release.
The angry students who were armed with placards with various anti-government inscriptions, on Monday, besieged the state secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, demanding the rescue of Olayinka from the kidnappers unhurt.

They threatened to “occupy the streets” if the governments failed to secure the release of their colleague.
Speaking with newsmen, the SUG President of FUNAAB, Comrade Oloyode Michael and National Association of Nigerian Students, Ogun axis, called on the government at all levels to improve the security of the country by adopting technology in securing the country, insisting that the current security strategy is archaic.
Oloyede called on the government to do more in the area of security of lives and property of students, saying that the government should provide necessary facilities for security agencies to make their job easy.
Also speaking, the State Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Damilola Simeon, urged the government to provide security agencies with drones and other equipment to aid their job.
Olayinka, a student from the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management was kidnapped on Saturday at a private farm at Abule-Itoko on the Abeokuta – Ibadan road in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.
He was reportedly kidnapped alongside the owner of the farm, identified as Dominic and a 17-year-old Togolese lady.
The kidnappers, however, demanded a ransom of N150million to free the student and two others abducted on the farmland.
