The Umaru Musa Yaradu’a Micro finance bank through its women empowernent scheme is presently supporting 550 rural women with N5,000 each to boost small businesses.
The Vice chancellor of the university, Prof Idris Funtua who was speaking at the third convocation of the institute said the bank designed an exclusive package for the women to access the loan which is to be repaid within three months.
According to him, a weekly N455 repayment and a weekly compulsory savings of N350 for a period of 13 weeks was what is expected of them noting that ‘the scheme commenced with 15 women in March last year and presently now has 550 women’
He added that the women who were drawn from villages of Dabaibayawa, Angawa/Autawa, Tsanni, Yarganji, Bakiyawa, Dandagoro are having 100 percent compliance.
