Adie Vanessa Offiong, an editor with Daily Trust newspaper, has won the 2018-19 Early Childhood Development Reporting fellows.
The Fellowship, organised by the International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ) is funded by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and Fundação Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal with the goal of improving news coverage of child health and form a global network of reporters covering this critically-important issue.
Offiong is an award-winning journalist and head of the Arts and Entertainment desk at Daily Trust newspaper. She has an interest in reporting development issues with a human angle and solutions-based approach. She uses a data-driven approach to cover topics including: women & children, environment, agriculture, health and women in business.
She is the only Nigerian and one of two Africans who recently won the 2018 Health Systems Global Media Fellowship and was a 2017 intern with the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp.
The fellowship term for this third cohort will run from March 2018 to March 2019.
