Joni Waka is a hilarious comedy that features Van Vicker and Ghana’s leading comedian, Agya Koo. The movie is about a young man who returns to his village after a number of years, pretending to-be someone he’s not. He uses his wit and charm to make the villagers believe that he is a wealthy investor. A twist of plot brings him face to face with the village “eye” (Agya Koo), who’s even more cunning and manipulative. Find out what happens when one of Ghana’s best actors and Ghana’s number 1 comedian join forces in what promises to be the hottest and funniest comedy of the year.
Having won the Pan African Film Festival’s 2012 Creative Achievement Award, along with Hollywood greats as Meagan Good and Loretta Divine as well as successfully premiered his movie “The Hands of Time” at the prestigious Silverbird in Ghana (August 3rd), one would say that this is definitely Van’s year. The aforementioned accomplishments are added to a list of others including Best Actor in the ACRAG Awards (2008), Best African Caribbean Actor (2009), nominated for the AMAA twice, the GMA, the NEA, and quite recently the NAFCA 2011 and 2012.
Van Vicker, Dr. Victor Olatoye, and the producers of the NAFCA Awards will premiere the movie on this Saturday. A Van Vicker Film, followed by a celebrity after party at the Pack House Bar. Then come Sunday the most prestigious award ceremony (NAFCA) will hold where Van Vicker will serve as co guest host.
