Valentine’s Day: Bakers, hoteliers, others who will smile to bank

Valentine’s Day, also known as St. Valentine’s Day, is an annual festive period celebrated across the world every February 14 in which lovers express their affection for each other mostly with greetings and gifts.

The day is said to have originated from a Christian feast day held in honour of one of the early Christian martyrs, Saint Valentine.

Since then, the festival has evolved into one of the most celebrated periods in the world.

SPONSOR AD

As millions of people across the world celebrate this special day, Daily Trust looks at the biggest winners on Valentine’s Day, those who would smile to the bank this season.

Below are some of the biggest winners of Valentine’s day:

Bakers

Bakers tend to be among the biggest beneficiaries of this special day. Lovers patronize bakeries to put smiles on their loved ones. Bakers often times make special products like cakes, bread (bagels, buns, rolls, biscuits and loaf bread), cookies, desserts (cakes, cheesecakes and pies), muffins, pizza, snack cakes, sweet goods (doughnuts, Danish, sweet rolls, cinnamon rolls and coffee cake) and tortillas to attract customers. Most especially on the demand of their customers.

Hotels

Hotels are among the biggest winners. Apart from the two basic services of room and board; hotels provide additional paid or unpaid services during Valentine’s festive period to attract more clients.

Such services include car rental services, catering services, concierge services, courier services, doctor on call, dry cleaning, excursions and guided tours, and flower arrangements for lovers.

Recreation Centres

Recreation centre is a building that is open to the public where relaxed meetings are held, sports are played, and there are activities available for young and old people.

Superbly organized recreation centres make a lot during this season, as pleasure seekers visit such places to kill the time and spent memorable time with their loved ones.

‘Surprise Business owners’

Surprise business owners also exploit the opportunity to create aesthetic greeting cards, organise events, performances, dance parties, matchmaking games, among other activities to profit from the festive seasons.

Artistes

Artistes like trumpeters, singers, and dancers are also among big winners of the festive season.

Trumpeters blow melodious sounds to praise singer to lovers. Singers organize performances while dancers entertain audiences during this period and in the same vein to earn money.
