Okorocha: Uzodimma commissioning roads I built 10 years ago

Former Imo governor Rochas Okorocha has accused Governor Hope Uzodimma of deceiving Imolites by commissioning road projects he built 10 years ago.

Okorocha, now the senator representing Imo West, was governor of Imo between 2011 and 2019.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had commissioned the Dick Tiger road, on MCC road, while the Akachi road where the famous Akachi Towers and controversial Palm Springs Royal Hotel and Apartments are, was commissioned by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, on Friday.

Speaking through Sam Onwuemeodo, his media aide, Okorocha said, “The Akachi road, which Governor Uzodimma is commissioning today, was constructed by Okorocha, the moment he came in as governor in 2011.

“The place where the Akachi Road was constructed, was a thick forest. Okorocha constructed the road, it was completed and commissioned.

“The opening of the place also brought about the Akachi Estate and the Akachi Tower. The Akachi road had eased traffic along Douglas road for those going to lmo Airport. With Akachi road, those going to lmo Airport could get there in 25 minutes.”

Okorocha is distracting me – Uzodimma

But Uzodimma, speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media (Print), Modestus Nwamkpa, said that he’s focused and would refuse to be distracted.

He said that it’s Imo that would judge between him and Okorocha who is delivering democracy dividends.

He said, “You were here during the Okorocha days, go and look at the quality of the roads and the ones we are commissioning and see the difference.”
