Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has assured the people of Okigwe zone on the speedy and timely completion of the second phase of the Okigwe – Owerri Road.

There has been furore over the 100 km Road Project since President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned a portion of it, which terminated at Anara in Isiala Mbano local government area of the state, leaving about half of the project still under construction.

Speaking when he received the people of the zone led by the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency/New Partnership for Africa’s Development, (NEPAD), Princess Gloriau Akobundu, said that contrary to opinion, the completion of the project was top of the priority of his administration.

Akonbudu assured the people of the state of his desire to ensure tye security of lives and property especially as the yuletide draws near.

“Contrary to what some people are saying we are desirous to see that we completed the second phase of that Road, including the Naze Road and the Owerri-Mbaise Road just we completed the Owerri-Orlu Road. We have not abandoned if you go there now you will see that work is advancing speedily.

“We are not only working on roads, we are also advancing on our various women and youth development programmes.”

Speaking earlier, NEPAD Executive Secretary, Akobundu, said that the women on solidarity visit to the governor to appreciate him on what he’s been doing in the state.

She said the women were ready to work in synergy with the governor to ensure that his succeeds in all his women and youth oriented programmes.

She spoke on the essence of peace and love as the bedrock of development and pledged to work to achieve sustainable development.

She said, “The women of the state especially Okigwe women came today to visit our dear governor, to thank him for his passion for developing the state. The governor is very passionate about young people and passionate for moving te state forward. We have spoken to the governor and we have learnt that he is ready to ensure that Imo is a home for all and he he is ever ready to do that.”

In her entourage were the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Emeka Nduka, who is from the zone, other personalities from the zone and a group of women from the zone under Okigwe First Women Alliance.
