Uyo Stadium undergoes CAF inspection ahead of Enyimba’s AFL campaign

As Africa awaits the debut of the African Football League (AFL), one of the participating elite teams, Enyimba Int’l FC of Aba, has received the AFL Pitch Inspector in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The inspector was accompanied on a tour of the Godswill Akpabio Int’l Stadium, also known as the “Nest of Champions’, by the club officials.

Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Enyimba’s Sporting Director, explained that this inspection is a crucial step for all participating teams in the inaugural AFL league. He stated that Enyimba FC’s management, led by FIFA Ambassador, Kanu Nwankwo, has been working tirelessly with various stakeholders to ensure a strong performance in the competition.

Enyimba FC (Nigeria), Al Ahly (Egypt), Simba SC (Tanzania), Wydad AC (Morocco), TP Mazembe (DRC), Esperance (Tunisia), Athletico Petreos (Angola) and Memolodi Sundowns (South Africa) will enter the competition at the quarter finals on home and away basis to determine who progresses to the next stage with the teams guaranteed of mouthwatering sums.

The People’s Elephant will take Wydad AC of Morocco later next month at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in the first leg of the quarter final rounds.

Meanwhile, Benue State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Rt. Hon. Terkimbir Ikyange has said Governor Hyacinth Alia is determined to upgrade the sports facilities in the state to modern standards that would see Lobi Stars return home to play her NPFL matches and to attract the Nigeria football authorities to host national team games in the state.
