Speaking at a one-day public enlightenment and sensitisation workshop on medical waste incinerator programme in Katsina, a consultant, Engr. Angus Ozaka, said this is one surest way of quickly developing a country like Nigeria in view of the people’s high dependence on government.
According to him, the recently provided incinerator at the Federal Medical Centre must be operated in line with best international practices so that its by products can equally be used for other purposes, such as the ash for fertiliser.
Ozaka stressed the need for hospitals in the state to take advantage of the availability of the incinerator by bringing their waste for proper disposal, saying that safety should be our watch word as we dispose our toxic waste.
He said proper and effective use of the incinerators will curb environmental decadence and evolve a secure and healthy environment, adding that “we must ensure we use them all the time.”
