Use your skills to make positive impact in ongoing war against terrorism – GOC 81 Div

The General officer commanding (GOC), the 81 division of the Nigeria Army, Major General Farouk Urmar Mijinyawa has advised the graduants of Countering Extremism (CSE) 5/24 to impact the society positively.

Major General Mijinyawa who was the special guest of honour at the graduation ceremony of course 5/24 Countering Extremism CSE at the Nigeria Army school of Finance and administration Lagos on Friday said, the training was to educate the personnel of both military and the para-military , civil society,noting that the training was a viable platform to solve most of the challenges confronting the society.

According to him,”the objective of course was to enhanced capacity and equiped potential peacekeepers with the requisite expertise to handle treats posed by violent Extremism and effectively perform their roles in a multidimensional peacekeeping mission”

The GOC commended the seamless collaboration between the Martin Luther Agwai international leadership and and the peacekeeping center, the government of Japan through the United Nations development program (UNDP), which culminated in the approval and conduct of this course”.

According to him, “partnership between the center and the government of Japan through the United Nations development program serves as a beacon of international cooperations which needs to be sustained”.

In the words of former UN secretary general Kofi Anna. “The greatest weapon is collective action”. This points to the fact that it is only through partnership and collective efforts that we can eradicate the menace of violent Extremism in the world”, he said.

Mijinyawa noted that the violent Extremism has continued to threatened world peace and humility in general,adding that we must all unite to counter it by addressing the route causes.

No fewer than 36 officers drawn from military and para-military across Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cameron and Serrielone among others participated in the course 5/24 organized by the United Nations development program in collaboration with Martin Luther Agwai institution sponsored by the Japan government.
