Use writings to clear misconceptions about Islam, lawmaker urges Muslims

A House of Representative member, Aishatu Jibril Dukku, has urged Muslim professionals to engage more in writing to clarify misconceptions about Islam held by non-Muslims.

Dukku, who represents Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, stated this at a writing competition organised by the Crystal Muslim Organisation (CMO) in Abuja.

She said literature has the potency to convince readers of ideas and could be used to correct bad notions people may have about Islam.

“There are so many advantages of writing and it is a way to convince people to accept your ideas. It is only through writings that we can change the world to have more knowledge of what it is to be a Muslim,” she said.

The organisation’s national secretary, Saudatu Muhammad, said the essay competition was organized to encourage youths to research, read and understand Islam.
