Urban mass transport coy to commence e-ticketing

The company’s Head of Marketing and Communication, Tunde Akintola, revealed that the planned e-ticket would help commuters, especially civil servants, to plan ahead each time they collect their salary.
Akintola, who urged commuters to cooperate with the company on the initiative, said the new means of collecting transport fare would be cheaper compared to the old direct mode of collection.
He disclosed that necessary gadgets for the operation have been put in place in almost all the high capacity buses operating in the nation’s capital.
“We will soon start creating awareness on television, radio and newspapers so as to sensitise and educate people towards using the card so that when we start, people will key into it immediately,” he said
He added that about 400 high capacity buses are presently operating in Abuja and its environs, saying that 300 of such buses are modern ones which are used all over the world.
