The non-teaching staff of the Local Education Authority (LEA) under the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has declared intention to join the ongoing FCT primary school teachers’ strike today, September 13, 2023.
City & Crime had reported that the FCT wing of NUT had in a communique directed all primary school teachers across the six area councils to embark on an indefinite strike to press home their demand to the council chairmen.
The President of NULGE in the FCT, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Kabbi, who disclosed this to our reporter on Tuesday, said the union had resolved to join their NUT counterparts in solidarity of the ongoing strike action to demand the payment of arrears promotion and other entitlements.
He noted that it was worrisome that the council chairmen failed to arrive at a compromise with the leadership of NUT on how to pay both the primary school teachers and non-teaching LEA staff across the six area councils.
