Alumni at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, have accused supervising education minister Nyesom Wike of masterminding the suspension of the school’s pro-chancellor Emeka Enejere to cover up fraud alleged against vice chancellor Bartholomew Okolo.They also want Okolo removed from office.
They say Enejere’s removal—and replacement with Emmanuel Ukala, a senior advocate of Nigeria, believed to be the minister’s lawyer in Rivers—which came in an announcement last Tuesday, was without reason and authority.
But Wike insisted on Sunday that Enejere’s removal “followed due process and was done in the best interest of UNN.”
