In a bid to promote transparent and credible election, the Center for Civic Citizen’s Welfare and Community Development (CWCDA), a Non-Governmental Organization, has launched a monitoring tool ‘Zabe.’
In a statement, Khalil Halilu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CWCDA, noted that the tool which means ‘to vote’ in Hausa, was developed to contribute towards better election management in Nigeria.
Halilu said trends which involved people rushing to social media to verify, post, and retweet during election birthed the idea.
He said, “A real time monitoring tool which allow election observers and the general public to track election results as they come.
“This enhances transparency and help prevent any potential fraud or irregularities…..with robust security measures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of election data with an end to end encryption to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.
“We are confident that this tool will significantly advance democratic processes and boost voter confidence in election results as it is a cutting edge data collection and processing system designed ahead of Nigeria,s general elections scheduled to take place this month.
“Zabe 2.0 promises to raise the bar of election transparency in Africa, and available for use by election officers, political parties, civil society organization and the general public.”
