The University of Uyo Women Association (UWA) has used “Jogging for Healthy Living” exercise it organised for women and management staff of the institution to teach healthy living and diabetes.
President of the association, Mrs Uduakabasi Ndaeyo, said the programme was organized to create an avenue for the women and management of the institution to take time out of their busy schedule to exercise.
Ndaeyo also explained that the programme was used to commemorate the 2021 edition of World Diabetes Day.
She said a free blood pressure check for participants was as part of the programme.
Ndaeypo said the programme would help the university community stay healthy.
“Exercise is part of good health. When we exercise, we have good health and for us women, we want the university community to stay healthy,” she said.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, who said Diabetes Mellitus was very dangerous, commended UWA for the exercise and called on participants to regularly check their blood pressure and sugar levels and also exercise for a healthy living.
