‘Unity schools must be retained’

Koko, while receiving the Nigerian Arise Merit Award by Ben Television for his contribution to the cause of unity schools in Nigeria, said that instead of unity schools been scrapped, each local government area in the country should even have a unity school to ensure that the unity and peace it promotes is enhanced.
Koko prayed that with the efforts of the association as well as the Federal Ministry of Education to revive unity schools, they will be among the best 10 schools in the world someday.
On the issue of cut-off points for admission into the schools, he maintained that the level of education in the North was low compared to other regions, therefore it would not be fair to have a unified cut off point as those from educationally disadvantaged areas might not have the opportunity to go to school.
Regional Director (Nigeria) for Ben Television, Mr. Lanre Ijaola, said the recipient was not selected for the award by anybody or group rather he was voted for by Nigerians in Diaspora based on achievements he had made in advocating for the improvement of unity schools and managing the association.
