The 12th governing council of the University of Jos yesterday directed the immediate implementation of the Federal Government approved school fees of N45, 000 as well as directed the management to reinstate the dissolved Students’ Union Government (SUG).
The council however said that reinstating the SUG would be subject to the condition that each member of the executives writes a letter of apology to the university management for tarnishing the image of the institution in public.
A statement issued by the principal assistant registrar, information and publications, Abdullahi Abdullahi said each of the SUG excos must pledge to be of good behavior and to maintain good discipline “and that they do not introduce any discussion on the approved new school charges of N45, 000.”
Daily Trust reports that the school management had two weeks ago dissolved the SUG and replaced it with a five-man care taker committee after accusing the exco of various offences including maligning principal officers of the university on social media following an impasse with the management on the implementation of the N45,000 school fees.
