Businessman shot dead in Jalingo

Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers killed a Jalingo businessman at midnight on Friday.

The victim, Alhaji Abdulrazak Yola, was killed inside his house by the gunmen.

Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen stormed the house of the victim, located at Sabon gari in Jalingo metropolis.

A neighbour of the deceased, who does not want his name mentioned, told Daily Trust that the gunmen shot him on the chest when they could not kidnap him.

He said the kidnappers shot sporadically before gaining access to the victim’s house.

He said after killing the businessman the hoodlums escaped through river Lamurde into the forest.

Governor’s aide regains freedom 

Meanwhile, a Taraba State Governor’s aide, who was abducted last week, has regained his freedom.

Bala Baba, the Special Assistant to Governor Darius Ishaku, was released by his abductors on Friday night.

Daily Trust gathered that Bala Baba was abducted midnight Monday at his residence located at Sabon gari area close to the house where the Jalingo businessman was killed by the gunmen.

It was also the same location where Ardo-Kola Local Government chairman and his nephew were killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, three weeks ago.

Bala, it was gathered, has since reunited with his family members but it is unknown if any ransom was paid before his release.

The spokesperson of Taraba police command, ASP Leha Reform, could not be reached for comment as he did not answer calls and replied text messages.
