UNICEF, WHO, others to vaccinate displaced persons

State Executive Director Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Sule Mele, said despite the insecurity situation, polio vaccinators have been actively exercising their civil responsibilities within designated camps in the state capital.
Dr. Hyelni Mshelia, who also spoke at the two-day workshop, said the training will greatly assist in administering vaccine on displaced children.
She lauded the efforts of local government healthcare facilitators and the EPI managers despite the crisis in the state.
Our correspondent reports that the training which ended yesterday in Maiduguri, was organized by UNICEF, WHO, NPHD and the Borno State government and that participants were drawn from the 27 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Abatcha Ngala said the workshop was aimed at training EIP managers and health workers on injectable polio vaccine, safe handling and administration among others.
