UNICEF, SUBEB enroll 177, 000 Kano girl-children into school

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in partnership with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Kano State, has enrolled 177,000 girl-children into primary schools in the state.

The Chief of UNICEF Field Office, Kano, Maulid Walda, stated this on Monday when he led members of the team on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, at his palace to seek his support on sustaining the programme.

He said the programme which is funded by Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) under the Girls’ Education Project (GEP 3 2012-2021), commenced eight years with Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, and Bauchi as focal states.

On his part, the Emir of Kano expressed his happiness with the number of girls so far enrolled by the programme, adding that the emirate is ready to support the continuation of the programme.
