UNICEF has declared more communities in  Cross River State Open Defecation Free (ODF) following intensive campaigns by the state government and international partner agencies.

Few days ago, communities in Boki LGA were declared defecation free by the development partners.

The Secretary to the State Government,Tina Banku Agbor, who disclosed this in Calabar, said the state government has invested much in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.

She said other communities which before now been similarly declared include Obanliku  and Yakurr LGAs, and now Boki.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Dr. Fidelis Anukwa called on the people of the state to complement the efforts of development partners to ensure that the entire state remains free of open defecation.

The Paramount Ruler of Boki, Ata-Otu Fredaline E. Akando,   said that he would ensure the status is maintained and commended the efforts of UNICEF and others for the feat.
