A 300-level law student from the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Oki Ayibaikie Samuel, has emerged winner of the 13th edition of the online essay competition organised by the Office of the Director on New Media to the Governor of Bayelsa State.
Samuel, who is from Oki-ama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, was announced the winner after his essay was adjudged as the best by the judges.
The second position was won by Christian Ikiens Baptist, while the third position was won by Okoye Tonbara Adeze.
Presenting the prizes at the Government House, Yenagoa, one of the judges, Dr Sophia Obi, thanked the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, for sustaining the engaging competition.

Another judge in the competition, Dr Ikiemoye Iniamagha, encouraged more Bayelsa students to get involved in the essay competition to broaden their knowledge base.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates of participation to the winners with the champion going home with the sum of N200,000.00.
