The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi ll has urged youths to embrace farming with a view to fighting redundancy among them, saying agriculture is the best weapon that could be used to fight unemployment in the country.

Sanusi, who made the plea while delivering his Sallah message at Kofar-Kwaru on Monday, said youths must engage in modern agriculture in order to reduce redundancy among them.

The emir also called on government at all levels to focus attention on agriculture through adequate and timely provisions of needed farming facilities and fertilizer to farmers.

“Our youths must try hard to return to farm so that they could be productive. We must go back to farm to produce more food and create more job opportunities for our people. Agriculture is a sector capable of providing job opportunities to many people,” he said.

Sanusi said that agriculture was the only solution to the current economic challenges bedeviling the country, noting that all hands must be on deck to help the country out of the economic crisis.

He said Nigerians must work together to survive the current recession the country find itself, adding that Nigerians must avoid extravagant in their life style so that when the country come out from the recession, they live a better life.

The emir also urged Nigerians to continue supporting government to overcome the insecurity challenges affecting the country, saying people should report to the appropriate security agencies any suspicious movements of persons or group of people in their respective areas.

“The issue of security concerns everybody and therefore you should always be vigil and cooperate with security agencies so that appropriate action would be taken in time,” said the emir.
